Ultra-High Stability and Holdover with the AXIOM40/45HS (D)OCXO
When the GNSS signal drops, holdover performance decides whether a network stays in sync. The AXIOM40/45HS (D)OCXO from FCD-Tech B.V. holds time error to 1 µs over 8 hours, with temperature stability down to ±0.05 ppb, in the industry-standard 36 x 27 mm Eurocase package.
Key Specifications & Performance Features
Built as a customizable timing core for synchronization and holdover applications, the AXIOM40/45HS is supplied at 10 MHz standard, with other frequencies on request.
Key advantages include:
- Ultra-High Stability: Grades from ±0.05 to ±0.4 ppb over temperature, with ranges up to −40 °C to +80 °C and ±0.3 ppb pushing and pulling.
- Holdover Options: Selectable grades from 1 µs per 8 hours up to 8 µs per 24 hours.
- Ultra-Low Aging: ±0.2 ppb per day, ±30 ppb in the first year and ±200 ppb over 10 years.
- Digital or Analog Tuning: Fixed frequency, EFC, or 16-bit Digital Frequency Control via SPI or I²C for direct processor control.
- Output Choice: AXIOM45 sine wave at 5 to 9 dBm into 50 Ω, or AXIOM40 LV/HCMOS, with phase noise of −140 dBc/Hz at 100 Hz and −150 dBc/Hz at 1 kHz.
- Customizable Build: Optional g-sensitivity below 0.5 ppb/g, optional reference voltage output, and 5 V or 12 V supply. Each configuration receives its own part number and datasheet.
Applications
5G and telecom synchronization, GNSS holdover, network timing (PTP/SyncE), calibration standards and precision test and measurement.
